Old Fashion Fudge

- Sugar
- Milk
- Butter
- Pecans
Place sugar, cocoa, salt, and milk in heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat to soft ball stage 234°. Remove from heat, add vanilla and butter, cool to 210° Do Not Stir. Add nuts and beat until it loses it’s sheen, pour into buttered pan. My mother, Mary Romine, and her sisters Fay Stanfield, Berniece Maples, June Bennett & Nell Jones and sister-in-laws Nina, Betty Jo an Frankie Ivins would gather the first weekend in December to make Christmas candies for family, friends or anyone dropping by. I was invited to join them in 2000, what a joy it was to be with them. After pouring through a mountain of candy recipes they would settle on a couple of dozen recipes and begin the process of making candy. I decided to thank them for including me by compiling all their favorites recipes into one source. I hope by reading this and trying some of their recipes that a new family tradition will start with you. |
